Friday’s Confession: I’m Injured and In Denial

Friday’s Confession … I’m a DUMB ASS. I’m injured and in denial. I have plantar fasciitis in my right foot and for some strange reason I continue to run and play tennis like it doesn’t hurt. I just got back from an 8 mile run and it does hurt - bad.

Now would be the time for someone to kick me in the ass butt. Oh, no really, feel free to do so in the comments.

I know better. I need to follow the doctor’s instructions, once I find them, and probably slow down over the holidays which I will do AFTER I run my third half marathon on Thanksgiving. *insert shaking head here*

Am I the only dumb ass one in denial? I promise to do better as I know I will pay for it later. Please hold me to the fire.

Winks & Smiles,

*forming fingers for a good church pinch* Stop it. You're only going to make it worse.

Don't play with that or you'll permanently end your running days. I had that problem in BOTH feet about a year ago. I got orthopedics but it was too late at that point so had to stop running for a while. Take the time to heal and before you know it you'll be running things again. In the meantime, go to a gym, do some cross training; maybe swimming and biking to get ready for a triathlon.

I am in dumb ass denial for other reasons I am battling. Still though, you need an ass whoopin' if you don't let yourself heal. Hey, you said feel free to kick some ass right? Teehee ;)

You are not the only dumb ass out there...I, like you, should take it easy but I am not listening to anyone and keep running..during the runs I feel fine (hmm hmm) but after oh that is when I feel like an idiot!!!!

Thanks, Ladies! You are all correct - even The Broke Socialite who wants to pinch me. LOL! I really will take it easy, you guys do the same! ;)

I can be of no help. This summer my doc diagnosed me with Plantar Fasciitis. And aside from not being able to pronounce it, I ignored it because I was determined to walk at least 3 miles a day. Needless to say, I made it worse and wouldn't wear my foot brace. Now, I'm not walking 3 miles a day anymore and I still have regular pains in my foot.

Hrm. That tightness in my lower back and between my hip and knee isn't magically going away. I keep thinking "one more run can't do it much harm...." but it's not helping. I'm hard-headed too. I'm also short on time and feel like taking that little extra time to have it looked at (on top of the time I spend running) will spring a self-inflicted guilt trip. I'll have to do something right after Thanksgiving.

Take care of it! I let my plantar fasicitis go untreated and I ended up getting a heel spur! I would have treated myself better, but because I was a new runner, I thought the reason my foot hurt was because I suck at running!!
