Snow Day 4: Staying Sane When You Can’t Get Your Run On

Its snow day number FOUR, y’all. FOUR. In Atlanta. Really?

I’m good with scheduled vacations ‘cause you can mentally prepare plan for those but who would’ve thought the kids would be home for a two-week winter break, go back to school for four days, then be home. Again. For days.

It’s enough to make you … go ... sit in the bathtub.

Huh?

Press play. I’ll explain.

What do you do when you can’t get your run on?

Day 4 yikes! I have a treadmill ... would rather run outside but sometimes it gets too icy here. Actually thought about getting some of those tread things you put on the bottom of your feet. My new fav is Kinect - I'm not usually a video game workout lover but I've loved Dance Central and Your Shape. Hope you all get out soon ;)

Day 4 here too and I'm running today. I don't care how cold it is, I'll just suck it up. The width of the street in my hood is clear but the sidewalks are icy. I will just have to make sure cars see me on the road. I have a half on Sat and I can't see doing it after a week of no running.

I've been staying busy doing home workout videos. I have tons of Cathe Friedrich strength tapes and a wide variety of dumbbells. I've been doing step aerobics for cardio. It has actually been kind of fun because I've been in training for races for so many months now that I haven't had time for other cardio.

I would like to hide from my children too. We used to live in Erie, PA where it snows 100+ inches each year. I was never going to go workout in the snow, so we bought a treadmill. I will never live without one now. And I also have a trainer for my bike so I can cycle inside if I get desperate!

Even though it's collecting dust, I have The Biggest Looser Cardio Max video and I love it. Jillian is a beast when it comes to workouts. Bob is no joke either, but he's such a cutie.

You are too funny! But I remember those days of wanting to hide from my kids...that enforced family togetherness gets a little old after a few days!

I think you are doing great with getting some workouts in. Think of this time as storing your energy for when you finally get to run - you will be a speed demon!
