Friday’s Confession: I Don’t Know Where to Run

Friday’s confession … I don’t know where to run.

I’m trying to decide what marathon I am going to do in 2011 and I need a little help.

Should I head off to the windy city …

Or stay in the sultry south?

Decisions, decisions. I would LOVE your thoughts. And, yes, I’m not only thinking about the run, but important things like food, BEER, gasp!, and city highlights could easily influence my decision.

Winks & Smiles,

All things considered, I would head to Savannah. I may even head down that way but not sure how my legs will feel by that point in time.

Wow, what a choice...I think the Chicago one is one of those things you MUST do....just because that is a popular one...BUT the one in Savannah sounds like alot of fun, and the music blasting sounds like a party while running....
I'm glad I don't have to decide....I'm still working my way up to a 10K....

Chicago's going to have a steep price tag. $145 registration fee. Plus more travel expenses. *shrug*

Savannah is inaugural, which can sometimes mean 'the kinks aren't worked out...' Lots of GF peops, though.

It's a hard choice. I'll do Chicago one day, but really wanted to to Savannah this year so that's my plan.

Chicago in October....be prepared for some iffy weather! Could be winter-type weather...could be spring-type weather...could be fall-type weather...will definitely be windy...you just never know! *haha*

I would recommend Chicago for the city/tourist aspect. I miss my city so much so I'd definitely recommend Chicago if you aren't afraid of unpredictable weather...and given you were enjoying shoveling ice *haha* I'd say that possibility shouldn't scare you too bad.

But Savannah in November sure does sound nice as well!

Definitely a tough call -- Chicago's a fun town with lots to do. It will be a much, much bigger race!

On the other hand, I've heard so much about how fun the RnR races are and I think it would be fun to be a part of the inaugural race (I'm thinking of running the Providence one for the same reason). I think I'd lean towards Savannah - be a part of the first one....you can always run Chicago another year.

Good luck with your choice!

Inaugural races can be iffy but so can the weather in Chicago! I'm partial to Chi-town because I had a picture perfect fairy tale first marathon there, the energy and support from the city is so awesome! But... Savannah could be just as fun and I hear the city is beautiful! Tough choice my dear!

Chicago definitely seems more exciting, but it might be cold! Savannah will be less expensive and can be really fun. But, Savannah is right here! You can go on any weekend. Dilemma!

Chicago !!
I'm thinking Chicago for my first full, and Savannah half with a whole bunch of friends to have fun!

I'd choose Savannah! Just remembering the tales of the Chicago '07 marathon where it was 70+ degrees and people were passing out and the course shut down was enough to turn me off of that one. I have done a marathon in bad (re: hot) weather and it is no fun watching 4 months of training go to pot. I'd pick the most stable weather option!

Two great picks, I lean towards Chi Town because well, it's second best to NYC, and Savannah because well, it's Savannah! And I heard the Rock & Roll series are beyond fun.

Rock N Roll San Diegooooo! ;) haha I have never been to either place, but I am sure they both would be fun!

Chicago - after seeing Spirit of the Marathon, I want to run Chicago one of these years.

I'd go with Savannah because a month later would mean that you don't have to do your long runs during the hottest days of summer.

Chicago is on my radar for the following year. SO EXCITED! I have wanted to run that marathon since the first time I watched Spirit of the Marathon.
