Project Me: Patience Please

I’m a solid week into Project Me, my journey to a healthier, happier me - and a bikini on a beach, ahem. As you saw in my before picture I’ve got some work to do. I’m fine with that. Really. I’m ready to do the work. What I need help with is patience.

I want it now. I’m dedicated to eating right, running and strength training. I’ve got a plan and I’m putting in the time. I can already see myself four months from now, fit and trim, and that’s part of the problem. I want to speed up time to get there and it just doesn’t work that way.

In order to make significant changes that last I can’t take any short cuts. I KNOW this but sometimes having patience is the hardest part for me. When I find myself struggling with that I think about my marathon training.

I set a goal.
I had a plan.
I took it one week at a time.
I had support.
I took breaks.
I had ups.
I had downs.
I worked hard.
I ran across that finish line with a smile on my face.

It’s not rocket science, but it does take PATIENCE.

Its also helps to have some signs of improvement. My jeans are a little loose and I’ve lost 4 pounds. I’ve got a race to train for now and that’s really helpful in keeping me on track.

How about you? Tell me I’m not the only impatient one. No really, tell me. How do you stay patient when striving for your goals?

Winks & Smiles,

Ahhh patience! Sometimes that is the hardest part. I always want results NOW. Glad you're seeing some results already!!

My goal is to save up enough money to get liposuction. Seriously, I am so sick of worrying about my weight. As a matter of fact I wrote about it on my blog today. But eventhough I've had issues with my weight for years I'm the laziest person ever and can't muster up enough energy to consistently work out. So hopefully the liposuction genie will fall from the sky. Screw the health risks, I wanna wear a bikini.

I'm the same way, instant gratification! But it does get easier with time. I've post 38 lbs since last June and am only 25 lbs away from my goal weight. It's been hard but just remember how great you'll feel when you finally put on that bikini!

I try to take it one day at a time, it's tough being patient and it's tough not seeing results immediately. One thing I do focus on is seeing improvements on running speed/distance or how much weights I can lift. Raising the bar on these is instant gratification :)

Thanks, Ladies. Great tips and I appreciate the encouragement.

Congrats, Corinna! Way to make it happen.

And, my buddy Krystal! We're going to stage an intervention. I feel Project Krystal coming on. No lipo! You can do it! ;)

I'm terrible at waiting for anything. I'm with you on the lack of patience, but I try to remind myself daily that this is about consistency. Every day I eat right and workout will get me closer to the goal.Sometimes it really feels like we're standing still even though we're working so hard, doesn't it?

It is hard to wait. But, don't forget to smell the roses. I like to try to enjoy my days in between as I am going for a goal.

I keep patience by understanding its a journey - not a quick fix. And if I simply focus on the journey of living healthy and all the things you do to live that way, the weight will surely come into line with my goals. It's still hard sometimes, but you gotta push to get what you want. I'm pushing daily.

Patience is one of my goals this year! I am the same way as you. I want it NOW. Not sure if a bikini is in my future, though...

Oh man, I am SOOO impatient!! It was the WORST when hubs and I first started dieting together... he lost the weight SO fast. Boys are lucky like that. Keep workin hard girl. You will get to where you want to be! P.S. I left you a little surprise on my blog! :)

Sounds like you are off to a GREAT start and already seeing results which is encouraging! While I have been trying to shed my pregnancy weight and regain my running speed, I have at times been VERY impatient. I just have to remind myself that my body didn't make those changes over night. It took nine months and it is going to take some time (not overnight- DARN!) to get back where I want to be.
You are doing wonderful! Stay strong and motivated!!

I love this and for me the KEY WORD is CONSISTENCY.
I remind myself that in the scope of everything one day isnt MAKE OR BREAK---I just need to be consistent through my lifetime.
a little bit
every day
forever

100% what I credit losing weight (35lbs) and keeping it at bay (16 years)

How about this for no patience? I am back on my plan and running track for like 4 days and I seriously thought my "holiday ass" would be gone in 4 days? Hmmmm....I lack so much patience, that I had to tell myself to shut the F up!!
