The Best Birthday Gift … Running for More Birthdays

As I shared a few weeks ago I’ll be running the Chicago Marathon as a member of the DetermiNation team raising money for the American Cancer Society. I’m excited that my second marathon will have such purpose and promise for such an important cause.

Dedicate a Mile IN HONOR of Someone YOU Love. The first 25 people to donate $25 or more will have one mile run in honor of their loved-one. The first mile is in honor of my late father-in-law, Leon "Bullet" Robertson, a marathon runner who beat prostate cancer. I will share all the names and their miles here on Run Wifey Run.

My father-in-law

More than half a million people die from cancer annually while more than 1.5 million new cases continue to occur. The numbers are staggering. Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the United States and must be stopped.

As I approach my 40th birthday this week, I can’t think of a better birthday present than to receive support to help save lives and create a world with less cancer and more birthdays.

For more information or to make a donation you can visit my personal donation page here.

Because everyone deserves more birthdays …

Winks & Smiles,

Disclosure: I'm a member of the American Cancer Society's Blogger Advisory Council, however, I am NOT being compensated for this post and all of the money received goes to DetermiNation/American Cancer Society. I appreciate your support.

Thank you for what you are doing Lorraine. I just made a donation and hope you will run a mile for my father-in-law Francis D'Avanza Sr. He was diagnosed with an agressive form of lung cancer just last week that has no cure. The average survival rate is 8-13 months. It would mean the world to me if you would keep him in your thoughts to motivate you across the finish line in Chicago. I think I'm going to run the Savannah Marathon on the DetermiNation team as well. Thanks for all you are doing to help fight cancer. You are an inspiration to so many!
